CASES WE ACCOMPANY

On the night of September 26, 2014, in Iguala, Guerrero, one of the most emblematic episodes of violation of human rights took place in the recent history of our country.

On May 3rd and 4th, in 2006, approximately 700 elements of the Federal Preventive Police (PFP) and 1,815 municipal and state agents implemented an operative in the town of Texcoco, San Salvador Atenco, State of Mexico, against activists and people in solidarity with the social process of the Front of Peoples in the Defense of the Earth (FPDT for its acronym in Spanish), which supported the florists.

Rodolfo Montiel and Teodoro Cabrera, farmers from the Petatlán mountain range in the state of Guerrero, are activists who defend the forests of their region and have fought against the illegal logging of trees. Through the peaceful activism of the organization that they formed (the Organización de Campesinos Ecologistas de la Sierra de petatlán y Coyuca de Catalán, OCESP), they managed to withdraw from the area of a US company responsible for the excessive and irregular felling of the forests of the Costa Grande. Therefore, they have received several international environmental awards. However, their triumphs in the defense of the environment provoked reprisals by the State.

A massacre in which several civilians lost their lives in San Pedro Limón, municipality of Tlatlaya, State of Mexico on June 30, 2014, at the hands of the military, a survivor had the courage to denounce irregularities in the actions of the army.

Ildefonso is an ecologist peasant who belongs to the indigenous community of San Juan Atzingo, in the municipality of Ocuilán de Arteaga. For 30 years he has been in charge of protecting the forests of his community, which are in an imminent danger due to the illegal logging done by people from the State of Mexico and Morelos. On May 15, 2007 his sons Aldo and Misael Zamora suffered an attack by loggers while they were going to the municipality of Ocuilán, in the attack Misael was wounded in a lung and Aldo unfortunately lost his life.
