Mónica Esparza acquitted and freed

Yesterday, on March 12, 2020, the First District Judge of La Laguna, Torreón, in Coahuila state, acquitted Mónica Esparza and ordered her liberation, after seven years of unjust imprisonment. Mónica survived sexual torture, and her case is known as one of the most emblematic examples of extreme gender violence committed by Mexican state agents in the last decade.
