En los primeros cuatro meses del 2023, al menos 33 defensores<\/strong> fueron asesinados en Am\u00e9rica Latina<\/strong>, mientras que en 2022 se registraron 126, advirtieron la Comisi\u00f3n Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CIDH)<\/strong> y la Oficina del Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Derechos Humanos (ONU-DH<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Sin embargo, en algunos pa\u00edses de la regi\u00f3n la impunidad en estos casos es superior al 90%, apuntaron. Ante esto, instaron a los Estados a prevenir, investigar, sancionar y reparar estas agresiones. Subrayaron que la impunidad<\/strong> \u201cperpet\u00faa la violencia y la represi\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n

Asimismo, aseveraron que los defensores se enfrentan a amenazas, intimidaci\u00f3n, hostigamiento, discursos estigmatizantes, difamaci\u00f3n, actos de violencia, y asesinatos como consecuencia de su labor. Por lo tanto, recordaron la obligaci\u00f3n de los gobiernos de proteger a estas personas.
